I was going to post about Colin Corbett and his incredible jockstrap art earlier this year, but the only photos I could find was one photo, a montage of his work which made it hard to really tell what was going on, but now I’m happy I waited because Colin has created a blog with larger photos of his collection plus some background info to help make sense of it all.

To get idea where Colin is coming from here’s an excerpt from an interview by Gaydar Nation (complete interview is over on Colin’s blog):

“Tell us a little about your work?
Strapped: The art of the Decorated Jockstrap, is just that, a collection of decorated jockstraps. Some made by hand from scratch, some standard over the counter, but all decorated, beaded, studded, appliqué ornamentation, and found objects like stuffed birds, toys and masks.

What was the inspiration for the collection?
On a trip to Istanbul a few years ago I visited the Topkapi Palace where I saw a complete working suit of armour for some Sultan or other. It was encrusted with diamonds, emeralds and pearls and was an essentially ‘macho’ war garment that had been rendered ‘camp’ and a beautiful ‘art object’.
On a more realistic and domestic level, I wanted to make a statement about the male identity and the jockstrap seemed the perfect canvas. It both conceals and draws attention to the genitals!

Our favorite jockstrap artist sent in more of his pretty amazing work. To be honest, he’s the only jockstrap artist we know, but I’m sure if we knew more, JIMM150 would still be our favorite – his work is incredible. Now, readers of this blog may be a bit confused – no worries we are too. In the past, we’ve called him JEF and you can see his other posts here and here.

I’ve been working all day trying to get a new line (Joe Snyder) up on Jockstrap Central and I came across this photo from our last shoot with Paulo. This is why I love our photographer, as he always manages to take some creative shots in between all the product shots we need to get.

I’ll be posting more photos with Paulo from the new Joe Snyder line later, but first I have to get them up and live on Jockstrap Central. I just love this photo so much I just had to post it for everyone else to enjoy:

JEF has been sending photos in regularly – you can see some of his other here in this post. He’s an artist and also a Jockstrap enthusiast and does these stamp jock photos for fun. These latest bunch of stamp pictures feature JEF in a Go Softwear Snap Jock, a Kyle jockstrap and a CIN2 one.
